“I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing.” (Genesis 12:2, KJV)

Did you know that it is not a sin to ask God to make you famous and to give you a great name? Throughout Scripture, we see that God is the One who elevates people and grants them fame as exemplified through: Abraham who was blessed with a great name, Jacob who wrestled with God and received a name change that signified his new identity (Genesis 32:28), and how God magnified Joshua before the people of Israel (Joshua 3:7).

Psalm 75:6-7 confirms that promotion comes from the Lord: “For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.” (Psalm 75:6-7) Since God is the One who grants fame and influence, it is not wrong to ask Him for a great name, provided it is for His glory. In this blog post, we will explore five different places where the Bible suggests a person can have fame, a good reputation, and a great name, along with prayers for each type of fame.

One, Fame in the First Heavens (Earth’s Atmosphere)

Many biblical figures gained renown within the first heaven, where their names became known among people. Jesus’ fame spread rapidly during His ministry: “And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.” (Luke 4:14)

Also, Daniel, though a captive in Babylon, became known for his wisdom and integrity. Abraham’s reputation as a man of faith was recognized by kings. Their names were elevated in their earthly surroundings.

Sample Prayer: “Heavenly Father, as You gave Jesus, Daniel, and Abraham a great name on earth, I ask that You establish my name in my community, my industry, and my nation. Let my reputation reflect Your wisdom, favor, and integrity, so that I may be a blessing to many. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Two, Fame in the Second Heavens (Spiritual Realm)

The second heaven represents the spiritual realm where both angelic and demonic forces operate. Luke 10:20 reveals that the names of the righteous are recognized in the spiritual realm: “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:20)

For example, in the tale of the sons of Sceva, the evil spirit acknowledged they knew the names of Paul and Jesus: “And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus, I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?” (Acts 19:15) To be known in the second heavens means that both the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of God recognize your authority.

Sample Prayer: “Heavenly Father, let my name be known in the spiritual realm for righteousness. Let demons tremble at the authority of Jesus in me, and may heaven recognize me as one walking in obedience. Keep me covered by Your power, and let my life be a testimony of Your might. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Three, Fame in the Third Heaven (God’s Presence)

God Himself takes note of His faithful servants. For instance, Job was so well-known in heaven that God boasted about him: “And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?” (Job 1:8)

Moreover, the Bible speaks of names being recorded in the Book of Life: “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15) Being famous in the third heaven means being known and honored in the presence of God.

Sample Prayer: “Heavenly Father, I desire to be known in heaven. Let my name be written in the Book of Life. May my life on earth be pleasing to You so that You may speak of me with joy, just as You did with Job. Keep me in Your presence forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Four, Fame on Earth (Among People)

The Bible teaches that a good name is valuable: “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold.” (Proverbs 22:1) Many biblical figures were renowned on earth due to their faithfulness. Joseph became a ruler in Egypt, Solomon’s wisdom made him famous, and David was honored as a warrior-king. Even Jesus’ name spread across Israel because of His miracles and teachings.

Sample Prayer: “Heavenly Father, I ask that You establish my name on earth for Your glory. Just as You made Joseph, David, and Solomon known for their wisdom, leadership, and faithfulness, let my name be associated with integrity, favor, and divine purpose. Use me as a vessel to impact nations and glorify Your name. Amen.”

Five, Fame in Generations to Come (Legacy Beyond One’s Life)

Some people are remembered long after their deaths. Psalm 112:6 states: “Surely he shall not be moved forever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.” (Psalm 112:6) Abraham is still honored as the father of faith. The apostles’ legacy continues in the Church. The prophets’ words still shape our understanding of God. Jesus’ name remains the most powerful name in history.

Sample Prayer: “Heavenly Father, I pray that my name will not fade into obscurity but will be remembered as a testimony of Your faithfulness. Let the works of my hands impact not just my generation but those to come. May I leave a legacy of righteousness, wisdom, and faith that will echo through time, bringing glory to Your name. Amen.”

In conclusion, God is the giver of fame and influence. Whether on earth, in the spiritual realm, or for generations to come, He can establish a great name for those who walk in obedience. However, we must seek fame for His glory, not our own. As Psalm 115:1 declares: “Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.” (Psalm 115:1)

Prayer for Fame and Influence in the Five Realms:

“Heavenly Father, I come before You today with a heart of humility, seeking Your divine favor. Lord, I ask that You establish my name in the heavens and on the earth for Your glory. Let my name be known in the first heaven as a vessel of honor, a testimony of Your goodness and grace. In the second heaven, let my name be feared by the enemy, just as the name of Paul was known in the spirit realm. Let no power of darkness prevail against me, for I am covered by the blood of Jesus. May I walk in authority, casting down every stronghold and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. In the third heaven, Father, may my name be found written in the Book of Life. Let my name be spoken in Your presence as one who fears You and walks in righteousness. Let me be counted among those You trust with divine assignments. On earth, Lord, grant me a good name. May I be known not for vanity, but for wisdom, integrity, and faithfulness. Just as Joseph, David, and Solomon were esteemed for their obedience and wisdom, let my life be a reflection of Your divine excellence. And Lord, I pray that my legacy will outlive me. Let my works testify of You for generations to come. May my name not fade into obscurity but be remembered as one who walked with God. Lord, inscribe my name where it matters most. May I be known in heaven, feared in hell, honored on earth, and remembered for generations to come as one who walked faithfully with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Declarations for Fame, Favor, and a Great Name:

“I declare that my name shall be great, for I am a child of the Most High God. (Genesis 12:2) I declare that I walk in divine favor, and my name shall be honored among men for God’s glory. (Proverbs 22:1) I declare that my name is known in the heavens, and the enemy trembles at the authority I carry in Christ. (Luke 10:20, Acts 19:15) I declare that God Himself knows my name, and it is written in the Book of Life. (Revelation 20:15) I declare that I will leave a godly legacy, and my impact will extend to future generations. (Psalm 112:6) I declare that I am a light in this world, and my name will be associated with wisdom, righteousness, and truth. (Matthew 5:14) I declare that no demonic power shall erase my name from the book of destiny, for I am preserved by the Lord. (Isaiah 49:16) I declare that I am chosen, anointed, and set apart for greatness in the kingdom of God. (1 Peter 2:9) I declare that my name shall be remembered for righteousness, and my works shall bring glory to God. (Matthew 5:16) I declare that I am blessed, highly favored, and established in every realm of influence God has ordained for me. (Deuteronomy 28:13)”
