10 Steps to Disarm the Power of Evil Altars
The apostle Paul reminds us in Colossians 2:15,
“And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it”.
Christ has already triumphed over every evil altar and demonic power.
However, there is a difference between verdict and enforcement.
In the natural world, the department that gives a verdict, such as a court of law, is usually different from the one that enforces that verdict, such as law enforcement agencies.
Similarly, in the spiritual realm, God is the one who gives the verdicts, but man is the entity meant to enforce those verdicts on earth.
This blog post aims to equip believers with 10 steps for enforcing the victory that Christ has already won on our behalf:
Step 1: Identification
- You cannot dismantle what you do not know exists.
- Evil altars often operate in secret, subtly influencing various aspects of life, from finances to relationships, health, and even spiritual growth.
- The enemy thrives in darkness and secrecy, so bringing these altars to light is the first line of attack.
- Pray for Revelation [Ephesians 1:17]: “Lord, grant me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. Open my spiritual eyes to see and my ears to hear what Your Spirit is saying. Reveal any evil altars operating in my life, family, or territory. Expose the works of darkness to Your light.”
- Engage in Spiritual Mapping: This involves identifying territorial strongholds that may be associated with evil altars. Research and understand the history, spiritual climate, and prevailing sins of your area.
Step 2: Preparation
- The Bible advises that before a king goes to war, he must first count the cost [Luke 14:31].
- Spiritual warfare is no different; it requires that we are fully awake and alert in our spirits.
- Understand Your Position in Christ: Our position in Christ is one of victory and authority. We are seated with Him in heavenly places, far above all principalities and powers [Ephesians 2:6].
- Pray Romans 13:11-12: “Heavenly Father, I thank You for calling me out of spiritual slumber and darkness into the marvelous light of Your Son, Jesus Christ. I declare that every spirit of lethargy, apathy, and spiritual blindness is broken by the power in the Lordship, Name, and Blood of Jesus Christ. I am awakened to Your purposes and plans for my life. I cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. I make no provision for my flesh to fulfill its lusts. Lord, help me to destroy all the places where evil gods are served. Empower me to overthrow their altars, break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire.”
Step 3: Consecration
- Consecration is the act of dedicating yourself to God, making yourself a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Him [Romans 12:1].
- This is a critical step because dismantling evil altars is not just a physical or emotional task; it is a spiritual one that requires the power of God working through a consecrated vessel.
- Remove Physical Objects: Any physical objects in your home or environment associated with false worship or occultic practices should be removed. This may include books, images, symbols, or even music and media that glorify anything contrary to God.
- Break Ungodly Associations: Disconnect yourself from any relationships or associations that may be connecting you to evil altars. This could include ungodly friendships, business partnerships, or even family ties that have been perverted by the enemy.
- Saturate Your Environment: Fill your home and environment with worship and the Word of God. Play worship music, read Scripture aloud, and declare God’s promises over your space.
- Anoint the Location: After destroying the objects, anoint the location with oil, symbolizing the Holy Spirit’s cleansing and sanctifying presence. Declare that the space is now dedicated to God.
- Pray this; “Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask that You reveal any physical objects in my life that are connected to evil altars. I commit to destroying these objects and anointing the space they occupied. I declare that this space is now holy ground, dedicated to You alone. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
Step 4: Repentance and Renunciation
- True Repentance is the process of turning away from sin and seeking forgiveness from God.
- It is a critical step because many evil altars are established through sinful practices or agreements made with demonic forces.
- The Bible teaches that sin gives the enemy legal grounds to operate in our lives [Isaiah 59:2].
- When we repent, we are breaking the legal rights that these evil altars have over us.
- Confess Your Sins: Begin by confessing your sins before God. Acknowledge any known sin in your life, as well as the sins of your ancestors that may have contributed to the establishment of evil altars.
- Ask for Forgiveness: Sincerely ask God to forgive you for any involvement, knowingly or unknowingly, in the creation or perpetuation of evil altars.
- Pray this; “Father, in the name of Jesus, I come before You in repentance. I confess my sins and the sins of my ancestors that have contributed to the establishment of evil altars in my life. I ask for Your forgiveness and mercy. I renounce all ties to these altars and break every curse that has been established through them. I declare that I am a child of God, and I belong to You alone. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
Step 5: Seek Deliverance from Demonic Influence
- Deliverance is the process of being set free from the power of darkness, as Jesus demonstrated throughout His ministry.
- Deliverance is often necessary because evil altars are spiritual strongholds that can bind individuals, making it difficult to live a victorious Christian life.
- The demonic forces behind these altars may resist your efforts to break free, necessitating the deliverance steps below:
- Pray for Protection: Before engaging in deliverance, pray for God’s protection [Psalm 91:4].
- Command Demons to Leave: In the name of Jesus, command any demons associated with the evil altar to leave. Use the authority given to you by Christ [Luke 10:19].
- Close Spiritual Doors: After casting out demons, close any spiritual doors that may have been opened through sin or demonic activity. This prevents the enemy from returning.
- Destroy The Horns of The Wicked: Evil altars derive their relevance from their “horns” – their symbol of power and authority. Destroying these horns is essential in rendering the altars powerless.
- Pray Psalms 75:10, that every altar that has raised its horn against your life and destiny be cut off, and let the horns of righteousness speaking into your life be exalted.
- Nullify Evil Sacrifices: Evil altars derive their power from the sacrifices made upon them. These could be literal sacrifices or symbolic ones, such as acts of sin or disobedience. As believers, we must nullify these sacrifices by invoking the supreme sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.
- Pray Hebrews 12:24: “Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that there can be no greater or more potent sacrifice than Your blood shed on Calvary. I invoke Your blood against any evil sacrifice offered on evil altars around my territory and in my bloodline. I cause the voice of Your blood to speak a better covenant. I declare that every demand of evil altars is silenced by the power of Your sacrifice.”
- Declare the Power of the Blood: “The blood of Jesus shall purge my conscience from dead works to serve the living God” [Hebrews 9:14]. “By His blood, I shall overcome the accuser of the brethren” [Revelation 12:11].
- Retrench Evil Priesthood: Every altar has its attendants or priests who serve to maintain it. These priests can be spiritual entities or human agents who are empowered by demonic forces. To fully dismantle evil altars, we must address the spiritual forces that operate them.
- Break the Power of Evil Priests: “Heavenly Father, I break the power of every satanic priest or priestess operating through these altars. In the name of Jesus, I evict every evil priest from their office and position. I cancel all their decrees and petitions. I declare their skills and tools paralyzed and ineffective.”
- Declare Your Identity in Christ: “I declare that I am part of a holy priesthood, a chosen nation, and a people belonging to You” [1 Peter 2:9].
- Break & Renounce All Ungodly Ties: Ungodly soul ties serve as channels through which the influence of evil altars can extend into an individual’s life. These ties can be formed through sinful relationships, traumatic events, or demonic covenants.
- Renounce Ungodly Relationships with this prayer: “In the name of Jesus, I renounce every ungodly relationship or soul tie that has connected me to any evil altar. I break every demonic covenant formed through these ties and declare them null and void.”
- Declare 1 Corinthians 6:17, that you are joined to the Lord and that every ungodly soul tie is severed by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- Break Generational Curses: A generational curse is a cycle of negative patterns or behaviors that are inherited from previous generations [Exodus 34:7]. These curses can manifest in various forms, such as poverty, addiction, broken relationships, or chronic illness.
- Repent on Behalf of Your Ancestors: Repent for the sins of your ancestors that may have contributed to the establishment of these curses. This act of intercessory repentance can break the legal grounds that the enemy has over your family line.
- Renounce the Curses: Verbally renounce the generational curse, declaring that it no longer has any power or authority over you or your descendants.
- Declare Your Freedom: Declare your freedom in Christ, stating that you are no longer bound by the sins of your ancestors. Proclaim the blessings of God over your life and future generations.
- Prayer this prayer; “Father, I come before You in repentance for the sins of my ancestors. I ask for Your forgiveness and mercy. I renounce every generational curse that has been passed down through my family line. In the name of Jesus, I declare that these curses are broken and have no power over me or my descendants. I proclaim the blessings of God over my life and future generations. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
- Invite the Holy Spirit: Invite the Holy Spirit to fill any void left by the departure of demonic forces. This ensures that your spiritual house is occupied by God’s presence, preventing re-entry by the enemy.
Step 6: Guard Your Heart and Mind
- The enemy often seeks to rebuild evil altars in our lives by attacking our thoughts and emotions.
- Therefore, it is crucial to guard your heart and mind against the schemes of the enemy [Proverbs 4:23].
- The Bible teaches that the mind is a battleground where spiritual warfare takes place [Philippians 4:8].
- You can guard your heart and mind through the steps below:
- Renew Your Mind: Regularly renew your mind with the Word of God [Romans 12:2].
- Resist Negative Thoughts: Resist negative thoughts and emotions that the enemy may try to plant in your mind. Take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ [2 Corinthians 10:5].
- Speak Life: Speak words of life, faith, and hope over yourself and your circumstances. Avoid speaking words that align with the enemy’s agenda.
- Surround Yourself with Positive Influences: Surround yourself with people, music, and media that uplift your spirit and encourage your walk with God.
- Pray this; “Lord, I ask for Your help in guarding my heart and mind against the attacks of the enemy. Renew my mind with Your Word and help me to resist negative thoughts and emotions. I choose to speak life and surround myself with positive influences that encourage my walk with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
Step 7: Walk in Obedience to God
- Obedience to God’s Word is a powerful weapon in dismantling evil altars.
- When we walk in obedience, we align ourselves with God’s will and invite His blessings into our lives.
- Conversely, disobedience can open the door for the enemy to establish or reinforce evil altars.
- In Deuteronomy 28, God outlines the blessings that come from obedience and the curses that result from disobedience.
- Walking in obedience not only dismantles the influence of evil altars but also establishes a strong foundation for God’s kingdom in your life.
- You can walk in obedience daily through the practical steps below:
- Study God’s Word: Regularly study the Bible to understand God’s commandments and principles. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
- Apply the Word: Apply the teachings of the Bible to your daily life. Make a conscious effort to live according to God’s standards, even in challenging situations.
- Seek Accountability: Surround yourself with fellow believers who can hold you accountable in your walk with God. This can help you stay on track and avoid falling into sin.
- Confess and Repent: If you find yourself slipping into disobedience, quickly confess your sin and repent. God’s grace is always available to restore you.
- Pray this; “Lord, I commit to walking in obedience to Your Word. Help me to understand and apply Your teachings to my daily life. Surround me with fellow believers who will hold me accountable, and give me the strength to live according to Your standards. I thank You for Your grace and mercy, which are always available to restore me. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
Step 8: Put on The Armor of God
- The Bible teaches that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, and spiritual hosts of wickedness [Ephesians 6:12].
- Ephesians 6:10-18 outlines the armor of God, which is essential for every believer engaging in spiritual warfare:
- Belt of Truth: Stand firm in the truth of God’s Word, rejecting the lies of the enemy.
- Breastplate of Righteousness: Protect your heart by living a life of righteousness, free from sin.
- Shoes of the Gospel of Peace: Be prepared to share the gospel and walk in the peace that comes from knowing Christ.
- Shield of Faith: Use your faith to extinguish the fiery darts of the enemy.
- Helmet of Salvation: Guard your mind with the knowledge of your salvation in Christ.
- Sword of the Spirit: Wield the Word of God, which is your offensive weapon against the enemy.
- Pray in the Spirit: Engage in continuous prayer, being watchful and persevering in your supplication for all the saints.
Step 9: Maintain a Life of Prayer and Fasting
- Prayer and fasting are essential disciplines in the life of a believer, particularly when it comes to dismantling evil altars.
- These practices not only strengthen your spirit but also weaken the influence of the enemy.
- Prayer is the means by which we communicate with God and invite His intervention in our lives.
- Fasting, on the other hand, is a form of self-denial that heightens our spiritual sensitivity and brings us into a deeper connection with God.
- When combined, prayer and fasting can break strongholds, destroy evil altars, and usher in divine breakthroughs.
- You can make a lifestyle of engaging in prayer and fasting through the steps below:
- Set Aside Time: Dedicate specific times for prayer and fasting. This could be a regular weekly practice or a special period set aside for intense spiritual warfare.
- Focus on God’s Word: During your prayer and fasting, meditate on Scriptures that reinforce your authority in Christ and God’s promises of deliverance. Speak Scriptures out loud that affirm your victory in Christ and dismantle the power of evil altars.
- Pray with Authority: Pray with the authority given to you by Christ, commanding the enemy to flee and breaking the influence of the evil altar. Bind the forces of darkness operating through the evil altar, and lose the power of God to operate in your life [Matthew 16:19].
- Pray with Specificity: Pray specifically against the evil altars in your life, asking God to dismantle them completely. Use the Word of God as your weapon, declaring His promises over your situation.
- Break the Fast with Thanksgiving: When your fast is complete, break it with a meal of thanksgiving, praising God for the victory He has granted. Engage in praise and worship, which confuses the enemy and strengthens your spirit [2 Chronicles 20:22].
Step 10: Establish a Godly Altar
- As you dismantle evil altars, it is crucial to establish a godly altar in your life.
- A godly altar is a place of worship, prayer, and sacrifice dedicated to the living God.
- It serves as a counterforce to the evil altar, reinforcing God’s covenant and presence in your life.
- A godly altar is a spiritual stronghold that invites God’s presence and power into your life.
- It is a place where you can consistently meet with God, offer sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving, and renew your covenant with Him.
- You can establish a godly altar through the steps below:
- Choose a Sacred Space: Designate a specific place in your home where you can regularly meet with God. This could be a corner of a room, a dedicated prayer closet, or an outdoor spot.
- Consecrate the Space: Anoint the space with oil, dedicating it to God. Declare that this area is holy ground, set apart for His purposes.
- Commit to Regular Worship: Make a commitment to regularly spend time at this altar, worshiping God, praying, and reading His Word.
- Offer Sacrifices: Offer sacrifices of praise, thanksgiving, and obedience at your godly altar. This reinforces your covenant with God and strengthens your spiritual life.
In conclusion…
We stand in the light of a profound truth:
Christ has already disarmed every evil force [Colossians 2:15].
Let this truth fuel your faith, knowing that you are not fighting for victory, but from a place of victory that has already been won.
This victory is not a distant hope or a mere aspiration—it is yours to claim and to walk in every single day.
Embrace it, live it, and let it transform the way you approach every challenge and obstacle in your life.
Victory in Chris is not just a promise; it is your present reality.
Walk in it boldly, for the battle has already been won.
The victory over darkness has been secured, but it is our responsibility to enforce this victory on earth [Psalms 115:16].
As believers, we are called to step into this mandate with an unshakable confidence in the authority that Christ has bestowed upon us.
The power of darkness has been stripped of its strength; all that remains is for you to exercise the dominion given to us by God.
