Why Am I Calling These Invisible Signs?

Because before a chosen one is tried, tested, and appointed by God, they do not look like they are chosen. That means if you judge a chosen one who is in their season of calling and preparation from carnal criteria based on human credentials, appearance, or potential you will miss the anointing, mantle, and mandate upon their lives as demonstrated by the examples below:

  • David, the shepherd boy ignored by his father but anointed king in the presence of his brothers. Also, the prophet Samuel bypassed him and preferred his brothers because they were well-built physically, aesthetically more handsome, and societal status they were soldiers in the army of Saul. But God told Samuel this: But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1Samuel 16:7)
  • Mary, the humble teenage girl entrusted with the womb of the Messiah. If she was really from a prominent family that was wealthy and from a high status am sure she would have managed to be betrothed to a better well-off man not a carpenter like Joseph. Nobody knew her but God spotted and used her from obscurity. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” (Luke 1:28)
  • Gideon, hiding in fear, yet addressed by God as a mighty man of valor. From a coward in hiding and one probably tied down by generational issues due to the household gods of his father to the mighty captain of God’s army. When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, “The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.” (Judges 6:12)
  • Saul, from the persecutor of the church to Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles. “But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and the people of Israel.” (Acts 9:15)
  • John the Baptist, living in the wilderness, eating honey, would have been called a misfit in society, or to some he would have appeared as a madman but from an obscure place – wilderness, and an identity-less standing in the society – Jesus gave this CV about him – “Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” (Matthew 11:11)

These examples speak to the fact that God has a track record of starting with newbies or novices for God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called and this means several things:

  • This concept of the chosen is not about elevating certain individuals above others in terms of inherent worth or value because Heaven’s selection is not based on appearance or human potential—it is based on alignment with the values of Heaven such as obedience, consecration, and intimacy among others.
  • It’s about specific callings and assignments that God entrusts to particular vessels for the advancement of His kingdom’s purposes on earth.
  • Therefore, being chosen is not about fame, power, or external validation— it speaks to divine selection, heavenly endorsement, and supernatural empowerment.

One, Heart Felt Burdens and desires

Ezekiel 36:26 – “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you.” This verse reveals that heart and spirit as the same meaning that our hearts are the site where God sets his throne because “God has set eternity in the heart of a man” (Ecclesiastes 3:11) The word eternity in this verse is the ability to know, see into and discern spiritual things past, present and future.

  • For example, have ever tried to make a deal and everything on paper externally is a pass but inwardly you feel something is off but can’t specifically tell what it is or give evidence? That is because your heart can pick up signals not just in the present but also those to come in the future or from the past.
  • So, when God wants to reveal His plans to you he will furnish it in your heart first. We find a perfect example in Acts 7:23 –“Now when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the children of Israel.
  • The ‘IT’ in this verse is the destiny calling of a deliverer that was upon his life because after he yielded to that heart impression, it set him off on the road to his destiny.

Two, Spiritual Warfare

You will face the fiercest spiritual warfare battles, oppositions, and challenges from birth because the devil and his cohorts will try to make sure you do not come to the full maturity of your purpose. After all, you are God’s bulldozer, caterpillar, and crane at the same time used to destroy works of darkness and establish works of light as seen in the examples of:

  • Jesus – Herod’s decree to kill all male infants in Bethlehem (Matthew 2:16) was Satan’s attempt to eliminate Him before He could fulfill His mission as the Light of the World.
  • Moses – Pharaoh issued a command to kill all Hebrew baby boys (Exodus 1:22) and was targeted by the enemy to prevent Israel’s liberation.
  • Paul – Relentless opposition, imprisonment, and threats on his life eg the 40 assassins that had sworn not to eat or drink until they killed him (Acts 23)
  • Joseph – Jealousy and betrayal by his brothers (Genesis 37), slavery, false accusations, and imprisonment—yet all this prepared him to fulfill God’s greater plan.

So, if you have been wondering why the chosen ones have the most difficult lives, this is the answer. You may be struggling with marriage; education is a problem – These are not random attacks. They are strategic assaults designed to discourage, distract, or disqualify you from fulfilling your assignment.

Three, An Attraction to the Divine

This unexplainable attraction to the divine goes beyond religious routines or traditions—it is a deep, inner pull toward the things of God. This spiritual curiosity often becomes the very portal through which God calls a person into their divine assignment. We see this pattern throughout Scripture:

  • Moses, while tending sheep in the wilderness, encountered a burning bush that was not consumed by fire. His decision to turn aside and investigate this strange sight led to a life-altering encounter with God, who commissioned him to deliver Israel from bondage (Exodus 3:1-4).
  • Jesus, at just twelve years old, stayed behind in the temple during a family trip to Jerusalem. There, He engaged with teachers, asking questions and astonishing them with His understanding. His attraction to the Scriptures and the house of God was a clear sign of His divine calling (Luke 2:41-52).
  • Samuel, as a young boy serving in the temple under Eli, heard God’s voice calling him at night. Though initially unfamiliar with the voice, his willingness to listen and respond marked the beginning of his prophetic ministry (1 Samuel 3:1-10).
  • The prophet Isaiah had a vision of the Lord seated on a high and exalted throne. This awe-inspiring encounter led him to volunteer for God’s mission, saying, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:1-8)
  • Similarly, the apostle Paul, then known as Saul, was fervently zealous for religious tradition. However, his encounter with the risen Christ on the road to Damascus transformed his life, redirecting his passion toward spreading the gospel (Acts 9:1-19).

These examples illustrate that an attraction to the divine—whether through curiosity, vision, or a profound encounter—is often the entry point into one’s calling. If you find yourself drawn to spiritual matters, seeking deeper understanding, or captivated by God’s presence, it may well be a sign that you are chosen for a divine purpose.

Conclusion

God’s criteria for choosing individuals are not carnal but spiritually rooted in the heart, humility, and openness to His purpose because:

  • God’s Selection Defies Human Expectations: His selection is based on the heart, not outward attributes and that is why you need to guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23)
  • Many are called but few are chosen” (Matthew 22:14): This means that the favor to become a God’s chosen one is bestowed on everyone even the humble, obscure, and unexpected. It is not limited to the prominent or powerful but is extended to everyone who chooses to remain submitted to His will and humble for “God resists the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6)
  • God Sees Potential Beyond Present Circumstances: For example, Gideon saw himself as the least in his family, yet the angel of God addressed him as a “mighty warrior.” This highlights how God recognizes and calls out the potential in individuals, even when they are unaware of it.
  • Past Mistakes Do Not Disqualify One from Divine Purpose: For instance, Saul, known for persecuting Christians, was transformed into Paul, a pivotal figure in spreading the Gospel.
  • In God’s eyes, greatness is not about status or wealth but about fulfilling one’s divine calling with faithfulness: For example, John the Baptist led a life of simplicity, yet was declared by Jesus as the greatest among those born of women.
